blackout is an (almost entirely) asynchronous journaling game for two players about redacting, interpreting, & straining against the confines of language. You'll create characters & a shared world together, then separate to play independently, sending prompts back & forth at your own pace. Your stories will start from the same seed & be prompted by the same events-- at least, as you understand them.

In-universe, your characters can communicate with each other through letters, voicemails, dead drops or some other asynchronous method, but as a player, you can only represent that communication through short pieces of blackout poetry. You'll react to the poetry you send & receive in your private logs, only shared at the end. How will your personal analyses of these abstract messages change the directions the narratives go?
